Metro hosting a celebration of Lin Brehmer next month

CHICAGO — To honor Chicago's "best friend in whole world" Lin Brehmer, one of his favorite haunts is hosting a celebration in his honor.Metro is holding a concert on Aug. 19 with performances by Bob Mould, Los Lobos, The Linburgers, Jon Langford, Kelly Hogan and special guest Michael McDermott to honor the iconic WXRT DJ.Brehmer passed away in January following a battle with prostate cancer at the age of 68.WXRT honored him a few days later with a special broadcast as so many great stories were shared about him. During that broadcast, founder of the Metro, Joe Shanahan, stopped by to tell some stories. Shanahan said he had to tell “The Jack White story,” following a Lollapalooza aftershow in 2018.“That night, I started acting like a 16-year-old kid. Who is jumping up and down next to me? CHICAGO — The first public sighting of what appeared to be actor Jamie Foxx happened over the weekend in Chicago.Foxx has reportedly been seeking treatment at a major medical facility in the city for an undisclosed medical condition. Video from TMZ captures what appears to be the Oscar winner on a boat crusing the Chicago River Sunday afternoon. The video shows Foxx with members of his family, waving and smiling at other boats. A sanitary sewer project near the intersection of Water Street and Plato Boulevard in St. Paul has closed eastbound Plato to traffic between Wabasha and Ohio street into November. The section of road is expected to reopen by Nov. 22, according to St. Paul Public Works.The closure began Monday. Westbound Plato will remain open to one-way traffic. To access businesses on Plato between Wabasha and Ohio, enter from Wabasha Street and use the open westbound lanes of Plato. To exit, continue westbound on Plato and head eastbound on Water Street toward Wabasha. Business and driveway access will be maintained.As of June 20, Wabasha Street has been closed to through-traffic south of Plato Boulevard. It is scheduled to reopen by Aug. 31.Construction on the sanitary sewer is taking place throughout 2023 and 2024 to expand sewer capacity and meet demand for new housing development. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Fidens Brewing Company is opening its new Albany taproom with a series of ticketed events. The soft opening runs from July 12 to July 16. Fidens opened its brewery and tasting room at 10 Walker Way in Colonie in 2019. Its brewing operation will continue to take place at that location. On July 19, all can sales will move to the taproom.Fidens is hosting the ticketed events at the taproom from Wednesday to Sunday. Tickets are $5 each and will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Albany. FLORISSANT, Mo. - An innocent bystander was hit by a stray bullet while inside their home Monday morning.According to Officer Steve Michael, a spokesman for the Florissant Police Department, the shooting occurred at 7 a.m. on New Florissant Road.Police claim two vehicles were speeding southbound and exchanging gunfire. One of the rounds went through a nearby home and struck a bystander in their foot. St. Louis woman finally gets towed vehicle back from Streets Dept. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated, Michael said. (WTVO) — Check your bank account: Illinois residents have reported receiving payments from a $100 million class action suit.On September 28, 2022, a judge approved the settlement resulting from a lawsuit accusing the search giant of violating Illinois' biometric privacy laws.The class-action suit claimed Google collected and stored biometric data of its Google Photos users, violating Illinois law.Affected residents were advised to fill out a claim form. This week, residents have reported receiving payments in the amount of $95.38.Class-action members who appeared in a photo in the Google Photos app between May 1, 2015, and April 25, 2022, were eligible for a cut of the settlement.Users had to submit a claim by September 24th, 2022.
