(AP) — Jacorian Sewell raced 62 yards for a first-quarter touchdown and Jarveon Howard added a 30-yard scoring run in the fourth to spark Alcorn State to a 24-3 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday afternoon.Alcorn State (4-1, 5-3) entered the game in a three-way tie for first place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Division with Prairie View A&M and Southern.The Braves held the Delta Devils (1-7, 1-4) to just 163 yards of offense and 13 first downs, three via penalty.Howard had 13 carries for 100 yards and Sewell had 11 for 96 yards. SLC hosts local trades exposition for girls Girls in Kingston and surrounding towns had an opportunity to explore the trades on Thursday.An event organized by Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) saw grade 7 and 8 students from the Limestone District School Board (LDSB), Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB), and Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) visit St. Lawrence College to attend interactive demos and meet local industry professionals. OYAP hosts a number of events on a yearly basis to encourage students to consider the trades as a viable a career option, but Thursday’s was focused specifically on showing young girls in the area that working in a trade is something they can do despite how male dominated they currently are.Only 5% of workers in the skilled trades are women, and OYAP would like to see that increase in the coming years. Police investigating altercation that led to deadly stabbing in Melrose Authorities are investigating an altercation in Melrose on Friday that led to a stabbing that left one man dead and another hospitalized, officials said.Officers responding to a reported disturbance at a home on Ledge Street around 7 P.m. found James Percent, 47, of Melrose, suffering from apparent stab wounds, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
