DENVER (KDVR) -- The Brighton Police Department said Tuesday that officers broke into a car to save a dog from hot temperatures.The heat in a car can be deadly within minutes, even if the temperature is in the 80s. Is it legal to break a car window to save a person or dog from heat in Colorado? BPD said it was just 84 degrees outside that day, but the internal temperature of the car read to be 113 degrees. The dog was in the car for over 20 minutes, according to police.Officers broke through a window to get the dog out and issued a summons for animal neglect to the owner. DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver may have a reputation for being car-centric, but a new study says it has a lower share of city land devoted to parking than most U.S. cities.Parking Reform Network published maps of the parking lot coverage in the cores of 86 U.S. cities, part of an overall effort to inform people about the impact of parking on climate change, housing and traffic. DENVER (KDVR) — A local chapter of a historic Black fraternity is giving back to the community by providing school supplies and resources to a fourth-grade glass.The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., in 1911. The name was derived from the initials of the Greek phrase meaning "friendship is essential to the soul," according to a press release from the fraternity. Denver local to be featured on NYC jumbotron The fraternity boasts some famous members, like NBA Hall of Famers Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal, to name a couple. (CNN) — One person is dead and another is injured after the explosion and collapse Tuesday of a North Carolina home owned by Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley, authorities said in a news release.Emergency units arrived early Tuesday morning at the Mooresville property and found one victim who “was exiting the house and was transported to Atrium Main in Charlotte with non-life-threatening injuries,” Iredell County Fire Marshal’s Office and Emergency Management spokesperson Kent Greene said.A body was found later during a search of the debris. Authorities didn’t release the names of the victims, saying they needed to notify family members.“It was like Armageddon. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing 68-year-old man. According to detectives, Russell Lee Stevenson was last seen around 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, in the 2700 block of Northwest 14th Street in unincorporated Central Broward. He is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing blue shorts.According to his sister, Stevenson has health-related ailments and physical limitations which require medication. A vessel with several people on board was overturned. City of Miami Police and fire rescue units arrived at the scene of the overturned catamaran, located at 3663 S. Miami Ave., Tuesday afternoon. 7Skyforce hovered over the scene as the catamaran lay on its side. Three people were on board the catamaran when they were thrown into the water.One woman was taken on board a City of Miami Fire boat to be checked out. No injuries were reported. An investigation is ongoing after a recent string of break-ins impacting businesses in Beacon Hill.Remy Creations on Charles Street has been among the businesses hit. Later speaking with 7NEWS, owner Remy Stressenger said the situation felt “very unsettling.”Stressenger said an employee walked into the store on Sunday to find the store ransacked with glass shattered. Stressenger said a burglar took an iPad. Boston police said they also responded to Soodee Boutique in Beacon Hill on Sunday where a window pane was shattered and where a brick was on the floor beside the glass. At Soodee Boutique, police said someone took a box of rings and a cash register. Over at J. Grady, police said there was a break-in overnight Monday.
