Named after the country’s first Black letter carrier, Canada Post’s newly opened Albert Jackson Processing Plant in Scarborough, Ont., is the largest of its kind in the country and is being dubbed Canada’s new e-commerce hub.The postal agency says it is the fastest parcel processing plant in its network, which means customers will see a big improvement in service.“When a parcel arrives in a consolidated fashion on a truck, it goes through the facility, gets processed and goes out the other end on a truck going to its final destination in four minutes,” explained Canada Post Chief Executive Officer Doug Ettinger at an inauguration event for the plant on Thursday.“Thanks to the Albert Jackson plant … on-time delivery is getting to record levels in Ontario … in the end this will turn around parcel delivery quicker.”The facility has been running since March and has been working to ramp up processing volume. FORESTHILL, Calif. (AP) — A 19-year-old was rescued after a stunt went wrong and left him dangling by a rope from California’s tallest bridge, authorities said. Deputies responding Monday evening to the Foresthill Bridge northeast of Sacramento determined the teen and his 17-year-old friend had been shooting video of him swinging from the steel span, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said. “The 19 year-old became stuck, hanging approximately 30 feet from the underside of the catwalk when his equipment failed. His friend called 911 after they determined he was stuck and needed assistance,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.Rising 730 feet (223 meters) above the North Fork American River in Sierra Nevada foothills, it’s the tallest bridge in the state and third tallest in the United States. CHICAGO — Police believe at least 10 armed robberies were committed within an hour on the city's North Side overnight.Latest police records show robberies for the area were 54% from 20201 and city-wide robberies are up more than 25% from last year."That’s just shocking and it was unbelievable," said North Side resident Samantha Gada.In the first incident reported by police around 12:50 a.m., a 78-year-old man was walking near the 1900 block of West Wolfram Street when he was approached by six male offenders. AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department asked for help Thursday in its search for a man suspected of attacking a gas station cashier.APD said the assault occurred Sept. 8 at 4:35 p.m. at a Valero gas station in the 11300 block of North Interstate 35 frontage road.According to police, the suspect argued with the cashier and hit him with a beer can.Police described the suspect as a 5’ 11” Black man between the ages of 30 to 40, weighing 200 lbs. with short black hair and a black beard. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A private jet company, JSX Inc., said it was cutting roughly half of its flights out of Austin, a spokesperson told KXAN Wednesday. The company pointed to "real estate constraints." JSX is a jet service that offers the perks of private air travel, according to its website.
