Like their fellows all over the country, Bay Area theaters are still slowly recovering from the pandemic, rebuilding audiences while often cutting back on staff and shows in their seasons. Some, like Berkeley’s TheatreFIRST, have closed their doors, while others, such as TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, had emergency fundraising campaigns. And there’s also a sense of renewal, with newly minted artistic directors such as Giovanna Sardelli at TheatreWorks, Lance Gardner at Marin Theatre Company and Jon Tracy at Marin Shakespeare Company looking to the future.Through it all, theaters around the Bay Area have continued to put out excellent productions of bold new works and beloved classics alike. Some have felt like grand events, such as Dominique Morisseau’s “Soul Train” musical “Hippest Trip” at American Conservatory Theater, or Billy Crudup’s virtuoso performance in David Cale’s suspenseful solo show “Harry Clarke” at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Some have been stunningly intimate, such as...Four-bedroom home sells for $2.1 million in Oakland

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- New Year's Eve is just days away. As a weather system batters the Northern California coast with dangerous waves, flood advisories, and approaching rain, the question many people are asking is will the weather be clear enough on Sunday to see the NYE fireworks over the Bay? Where to watch SF’s New Year’s Eve fireworks With one weather system moving out and another set to move in, it's unclear whether conditions will be clear enough to view the fireworks Sunday."The good news is that it looks like our storm system Friday into Saturday will clear us in time for New Year's Eve," said KRON4 Meteorologist Kyla Grogan. "The bad news is that a second system that will ultimately head south of us will usher in some clouds on Sunday as it passes us by offshore." LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons are well aware of the situation they face with two games remaining and their postseason hopes hanging by a thread. They simply have little room for error heading into their matchup against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.“Unless you’re living in Perth, Australia, or something and you turn your cell phone off, I think you’re aware of it,” coach Arthur Smith said. “It’s just, the reality is nothing matters. When you start to get caught up, it’s just a waste of time. … Nothing matters but Chicago. … Good or bad, you’re just taking energy away from preparing for Sunday. … “If you go out there and you don’t play well in Chicago, then nothing else matters.”The Falcons (7-8) beat Indianapolis 29-10 last week with their best offensive performance this season. They played turnover-free ball and gained 406 yards with Taylor Heinicke starting at quarterback after Desmond Ridder got benched for the second time this season.Heinicke ...U.S. routs Swiss 11-3 at world juniors behind hat trick from Snuggerud; Sweden posts second shutout

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jonathan Taylor still laments the lessons learned during Las Vegas’ last trip to Indianapolis in 2021.He played well in that Week 17 contest, rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown, but the Colts failed to clinch a playoff spot on their home field and a week later they were homeward bound for the offseason. The Raiders used that surprise last-second victory to steal a playoff spot.So this week, facing an eerily similar situation, the 2021 NFL rushing champion finds himself giving teammates a short, simple reminder: Take care of business Sunday.“It does (help) because you failed in a sense, so you had the opportunity to learn and especially, with the younger guys, you’re able to teach them or give them a little bit of knowledge that you have from your experience,” Taylor said. “Hopefully, they can take that into consideration, thought, and really put forth the effort, knowing we need to be all gas on the pedal this week.”Indy (8-7) again enters th...Latest news
