St. Paul man sentenced in elaborate Minneapolis phone theft ring that targeted intoxicated bar patrons A St. Paul man was sentenced Tuesday to nearly eight years in prison for his role in an elaborate phone theft ring that targeted downtown Minneapolis bar patrons.Aaron Tracey Johnson, 26, pleaded guilty last week to one count of racketeering in the scheme, which cost its dozens of victims hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to documents filed in Hennepin County District Court.In exchange for a 94-month sentence, Johnson admitted to his role in the theft ring and “implicated several other top members,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty’s office said in a news release.“People have to feel and be safe in our county,” Moriarty said in the release. “This sophisticated operation targeted unsuspecting victims enjoying a night out and contributed to instilling a culture of fear that threatens the vibrancy of our community. Inver Grove Heights firefighters battle blaze at Mississippi River marina Officials in Inver Grove Heights say fire damaged two boats docked at a Mississippi River marina Tuesday night — and a firefighter had to be pulled out of the river after falling into the icy water.Firefighters were called about 7 p.m. to a private marina in the 6100 block of Doffing Avenue, on the west bank of the Mississippi River about a mile and a half south of Interstate 494.They found a 50-foot boat engulfed in flames at a slip in the marina. The flames also spread to another adjacent boat. One firefighter fell into the 38-degree water at the scene and had to be rescued but was unhurt.Fire crews were on the scene for more than two hours and reported that both boats remained floating but were badly damaged. Albany woman arrested in abandoned cat investigation ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An arrest has been made after a cat was found abandoned on Sherman Street in the city of Albany. Lisa Lindo, 30, was charged with one count of Abandonment of Animals and one count of Animal Cruelty. Get all of the latest news, weather, sports, and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! On January 27, police said Lindo left the cat in a carrier without food, water or shelter near garbage cans on Sherman Street near Henry Johnson Boulevard. Suspect photos in 3 attempted murder cases released; Los Angeles Police Department urges victims to come forward Authorities with the Los Angeles Police Department on Monday released the photos of three men in custody for unrelated cases of attempted murder in hopes additional victims of unreported aggravated assault or attempted murder involving the suspects will come forward.  The first incident occurred Dec. 15, around 9:30 p.m., in a parking lot located in the 3200 block of West Florence Avenue.  The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Kaleb Cotton, who was armed with a handgun, approached a vehicle with four occupants, two women and two men, and fired multiple rounds into the car. One of the men was hit in the head by gunfire and critically wounded.
