SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Street closures across San Francisco are in effect as the APEC conference gets into high gear on Tuesday. According to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, more than 20,000 people are expected to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Twenty-one world leaders are expected to join the summit as well.Most APEC activities will take place in the South of Market and Nob Hill neighborhoods, however, due to the larger amount of occupants this may impact other parts of San Francisco as well.The bulk of the APEC events will take place at the Moscone Center. Streets and freeway ramps around the Moscone Center will be closed from Nov. 14 through 19. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Rain overnight Monday gave way to morning showers in parts of the Bay Area Tuesday, impacting the morning commute for some. Widespread and prolonged periods of moderate rain are expected from late Monday through Friday this week, according to the National Weather Service.While most of the Bay Area was dry as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, the NWS said it was still tracking showers over the coastal waters and the North Bay, where there have been off and on showers since last night."Get ready for some November rain," said KRON4 Meteorologist Kyla Grogan. (BCN) -- A San Francisco man this week was charged on suspicion of physically assaulting and molesting a woman after he offered her a ride, prosecutors said.Monroe Palmer, 53, was charged with one count of sodomy by force, assault with intent to commit a felony, sexual battery by restraint, one count of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, and one count of false imprisonment, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office said in a statement. Walnut Creek robbery suspect arrested Palmer, who was arraigned Monday, pleaded not guilty to these charges. He also denied the allegation in the criminal complaint alleging that he personally caused great bodily injury to the victim, the District Attorney's Office said.Prosecutors alleged that on Aug. 30, Palmer sexually and physically assaulted a woman in his home after offering her a ride to a nearby BART station. (KRON) – The Concord Police Department arrested a man who allegedly stole a vehicle after recklessly driving. At 5:15 a.m., a Concord police officer observed a silver Honda SUV without license plates driving recklessly in the Downtown District on Nov. 12. According to police, the officer attempted to stop the driver. However, the driver decided not to stop. A pursuit ensued and eventually ended on Almond Way when the driver slowly rolled into the front yard of a residence, police said.
